Spack opens doors for Schouw Informatisering and Foodware 365

An excellent food company from Nieuwe Tonge in South Holland: Spack BV. A family business that has been active for years in producing high-quality organic vegetable oils and fats. Spack is growing, and to facilitate this growth, they decided to work with the innovative food-specific software Foodware 365 from Schouw Informatisering. The implementation of the new software platform has recently started. We spoke with operational director Marcel Spaargaren, one-third of the three-headed management of Spack, consisting of him, his brother, and sister.

Spack in a nutshell

Marcel Spaargaren of Spack says: “Spack is a real family business, founded by my father in 1977. We’re traders and producers of organic vegetable oil. We buy seed, we press it, and we fill it in bottles. We also sell it in bulk; these are complete truckloads. We mainly produce in the Netherlands, here at the head office in Nieuwe Tonge and in Harlingen. The rest is produced in Germany”. Spack has grown considerably since it was founded in 1977. The company has outgrown its location several times. From Eindhoven to Hellevoetsluis, to Oostvoorne, to the current location in Nieuwe Tonge with around 40 employees.

Better insights into the whole chain with Foodware 365

Spack was searching for a new solution, one that has A to Z all in one total package. “It was time for improvement. We wanted one integrated system with which we are ready for future growth and one that gives us more control and insight into the entire operation. In particular, the improvement that we can make concerning the quality aspect throughout the entire process was a decisive factor for us. Adding to that, Foodware 365 offers us complete chain insight,” says Marcel.

Looking for the right software

You don’t choose the right software partner in a day. The preliminary phase was, therefore, quite intensive and thorough. Spack has invested a lot of time and talked to various parties to be able to make the right choice ultimately. All stakeholders were part of the decision-making process, from purchasing to sales and from quality to production. “After joint consultation, we decided that Schouw Informatisering is the best fit for our company, both in terms of the solution and the cultural fit.” Spack also visited a Schouw customer during the process for a reference visit. “That also helped us a lot in making the right choice, seeing all that is possible with Foodware 365”.
