Solfruit International implements Microsoft Dynamics® and SI Foodware® from Schouw Informatisering
‘New software will help us maintain double digit growth’
Etten-Leur, 21 June 2007 - Importer and exporter of fruit and vegetables Solfruit International BV has signed contracts with ICT firm Schouw Informatisering for the implementation of a company-wide ERP solution. Schouw’s standard solution specifically designed for the Fruit & Vegetable sector will give Solfruit International better support for its business processes, improved insight into results and better lot monitoring. Peter Bouman, General Manager: ‘In our continuing endeavour for professionalisation we have chosen Schouw Informatisering because they specialise in automation of companies in the Fruit & Vegetable sector. They use Microsoft Dynamics NAV® combined with their own sector-specific solutions, SI Foodware®.’
IT as a tool for company growth
Solfruit International is a subsidiary of the Food Investments Group BV and imports products from overseas that are subsequently marketed to various customers in the fruit & vegetable sector. The company has grown into one of the key players in the European market. Stephan Lupker, Financial Director: ‘Food Investments Group BV wants to maintain a double-digit growth rate and considers IT to be an important tool. We currently have a range of systems, and what we really want is to have just one integrated solution that fits in with our business processes. Schouw Informatisering has convinced us that they can deliver the most appropriate solution.’
Standard solution
With SI Foodware, Solfruit International wants better support for working procedures, improved insight into results and better lot monitoring, ultimately leading to improved service to clients and suppliers. Bouman: ‘The rich functionality of SI Foodware and Schouw’s wealth of knowledge and experience in the Fruit & Vegetable sector have convinced us to choose their standard solution. The starting point of the project is therefore to work fully with standard SI Foodware.’ One considerable advantage of this will be the short time needed to implement the ERP system, and for the future, this will mean that application management will be simpler.
Specific to the Fruit & Vegetable sector: Lot administration
The fruit & vegetable sector has specific characteristics that are not supported by standard ERP systems. Based on many years’ experience, Schouw has developed standard solutions for the fruit & vegetable sector, and SI Foodware - Lot administration is one of these solutions. This module provides insight into the financial aspects as well as the logistics of lot management. Furthermore, the lot administration is fully integrated with the other SI Foodware solutions and with Dynamics NAV.
Phased project
Solfruit International BV, Solfruit Vegetables BV and Apollo Fruit Int. are all subsidiaries of the holding Food Investments Group BV. The new ERP system will be implemented in phases in all three organisations, thus creating a manageable project, with Solfruit International taking the lead. Once all the companies have gone live with the basic functionality, the project will be extended with other modules including RF scanning, EDI, Labelling, Scale interfaces and integration with MS Office.
