‘We now fulfil all the tracking & tracing requirements with one solution'
Interview with: Veronique Moeys, responsible for IT at Kaashandel Albert,
Recently Kaashandel Albert has enjoyed a period of substantial growth, and now the existing computer systems no longer meet the company's needs. Following an extensive investigation, Kaashandel Albert has chosen Microsoft Dynamics™ NAV from Schouw Informatisering, possibly in combination with SI Foodware. This means that the administration is now fully automated, it meets Kaashandel Albert's requirements concerning Tracking & Tracing and it is possible to build an interface to the scales. Veronique Moeys, responsible for IT at Kaashandel Albert explains.
Family-owned company
In 1925 Veronique's grandfather started Kaashandel Albert, where five of his sons worked. At the moment the only one of the five brothers still active in the company is Veronique's father, Daniël Moeys. Kaashandel Albert now employs 15 staff, with five people working in the office. The other employees are involved in cutting and packing cheese and in the distribution. The product range at Kaashandel Albert is very diverse and includes cheeses from Belgium, Holland, Italy and Portugal. Veronique Moeys: ‘Essentially you can order any type of cheese through us. We mainly deliver this extensive product range to market stall holders, specialist traders, the hotel and catering industry and supermarkets.'
Dynamics™ NAV in combination with SI Foodware®
‘The reason why we chose a new system is that our old system was really out of date, it wasn't integrated with office applications such as e-mail,' according to Veronique Moeys. ‘With Microsoft DynamicsTM NAV possibly in combination with SI Foodware® from Schouw Informatisering we will have a modern ERP system at our disposal. In the new system Tracking & Tracing will be possible, something that is compulsory since the introduction of the General Food Law in 2005.' Besides the need for a new ERP system, Kaashandel Albert also needs extra space because of their recent growth, and so they are currently in the process of obtaining permits to expand the premises in the first half of 2007.
Selection process
Veronique Moeys: ‘After comparing various packages I chose Dynamics NAV. I selected this package because it is used worldwide; it offers more features, is more flexible and is widely supported through the extensive partner network. Dynamics NAV offers its partners the opportunity to develop sector specific software, such as SI Foodware from Schouw Informatisering.' Veronique Moeys learned about Dynamics NAV and SI Foodware during a presentation organised by Beveka in cooperation with Schouw Informatisering. They are currently considering adding the SI Foodware - Business Essentials solution to Dynamics NAV. Business Essentials is a standard solution where the functionality is integrated in almost all the standard Dynamics NAV modules. In addition to the implementation of Dynamics NAV a consultant from Schouw Informatisering is currently working on the interface with the scales. SI Foodware has a standard solution for this which means that the consumption or sale can be recorded in the administration quickly and accurately via the interface.
Implementation
All the Dynamics NAV modules required will be implemented at Kaashandel Albert step by step. We are currently working on the migration of the invoicing and this is a large step in the right direction. Other business processes will be automated using various Dynamics NAV modules, such as warehouse management. Veronique Moeys plans to phase in all the required modules as the building work is completed so that the whole system is implemented within three years.
Finally
Veronique Moeys: ‘I am very satisfied and have nothing to complain about. And this is why I recommend other companies in the dairy industry to look closely at SI Foodware from Schouw Informatisering in combination with Dynamics NAV.'
