Roem van Yerseke joins forces with Schouw Informatisering
Roem van Yerseke, one of the leading organisations dealing in shellfish, wants to improve its logistics and administrative organisation to cope with current and future expansion. In order to realise this, Roem van Yerseke has chosen Schouw Informatisering as partner for the automation of its business processes with Microsoft® Business Solutions-Navision®. Roem van Yerseke has chosen Schouw because of its experience with Navision implementations in the oyster and mussel sector. In addition Schouw has developed sector specific software which exactly fits the way the business processes are defined at companies such as Roem van Yerseke. The IT project will result, among other things, in further integration and optimisation of the business processes at the foreign subsidiaries.
Roem van Yerseke was established in 1942 and has grown to be one of the world's most advanced companies dealing in shellfish. Roem van Yerseke has mussel farms in the Netherlands as well as in the German federal republic of Sleeswijk-Holstein and Niedersachsen. The total surface area of these mussel beds is about 2,200 hectares. All this enables Roem van Yerseke to meet its customer orders from its own mussel farms. Just one of the pillars contributing to the guarantee of a constant supply of high-quality product. In all Roem van Yerseke has four processing plants located in three countries. Their own mussel farms are located in the Netherlands and in Germany, the commercial offices are in Spain and Denmark. Considering the international nature of the business, the EDI solution integrated in Microsoft Navision is logically one of the modules which Roem van Yerseke will certainly be implementing in the near future.
To ensure that the project at Roem van Yerseke goes smoothly the implementation will be carried out in two phases. The first phase will be completed in August 2004 and consists of the implementation of sales orders, purchase orders, inventory management, production planning and financial administration. This implementation will also make use of sector specific solutions for calculating the forecast, quick order entry, plot administration, administration of complaints and EDI. The modules to be implemented in the second phase include barcode scanning and quality control. This all has to do with the production and preserving of frozen and fresh produce.
